January 13, 2024- Along with the Creative Minds art classes, a six-week basic drawing workshop started on January 8th and takes place on Mondays and Fridays. The weather has not been the best, but we have dedicated students participating in this program. They do not let a little wind stop them.

Classes start off with a healthy snack and a relaxing conversation. I realized that no matter the age, most students’ favorite school subject is lunch and gym. The students shared how math and science is not their favorite classes, but they do enjoy art class very much. I am happy to hear that our schools have amazing art teachers encouraging and nurturing the artistic sides of the youth in our community.
The students are learning basic drawing skills along with one point perspective and two-point perspective. This is a beginner’s class but by watching these art students draw I can tell they are hardworking, focused, talented and have a desire to expand the knowledge they have already acquired. Rosemary takes the time to individually help each student and bring forth their best work. Even after they declare they are done with their drawing they keep going back to it and improving it. It is amazing the artwork these young artists produce.

I truly enjoy watching and listening as the art students share their day with all of us present, communicate with each about their friends, music (K-pop), weekend plans and encourage one another with constructive feedback about their artwork.
